Despite all the competition that's around it and new clubs that are constantly popping up, the Roxy has continued to be a major player in the LA rock club scene.
It was just a year ago yesterday that the Red Hot Chili Peppers played a rockin show at the classic venue - and not only was LAist there, but we gave out a dozen free tickets to lucky wieners. Keeping the hope alive, the Roxy was home to another legendary group just a few weeks ago when the Sex Pistols played there.
And then on Friday, the B-52's will hit the small stage on the Sunset Strip, proving that the Roxy still has it and it ain't going nowhere. But for now let's just harken back to a year ago when Flea, Anthony, John and that other guy brought it all back home.

Thanks again for those tickets.
That was the best day of my life. All the tickets were free through Zune, right? Or was this a different show?
yes that night Zune sponsored the show at the Roxy and if you were lucky enough to know someone at the company, or catch one of the promotions like the one we did at LAist you got a golden ticket.
the roxy is one of the best venues in la la land. it's great to see it appreciated by people that don't work there. looking forward to the next laist sponsored night!
Yes I was fortunate enough to have a little birdie tell me about the Zune promo and got the little dog tag that got me into the show. Thanks again TP errr.. I mean little birdie.
great story - looks like it was a frickin' blast
