Great post. LA has to settle down and enjoy watching basketball for the sake of watching basketball. Championships are great - and they'll come to LA again undoubtedly - but in the meantime let's have fun watching this up-and-coming team.

The Lakers are not as bad as the mainstream media would have us all believe. They are a top-10 team in this league. They are also in really good shape for the next 5-10 years. There is some real talent on this team. (Bynum and Farmar especially).

Hopefully that talent can come along quickly enough to help Kobe get another ring. If he's traded before then so be it. I'll get to root for two teams instead of one.

It will be very funny in 8 years to look back on when there was a serious argument to trade Bynum. We'll all laugh about it as he makes his 5th consecutive all-star game.

Kobe is still the best reason to watch the Lakers. The whining does nothing to take away from his performance on the court. Like art and music, sports are easiest to enjoy when you separate the person from their work.
