The Screamers

Let's start getting excited for the Masque event with some Screamers. Tomata was one of the greatest frontmen who ever lived. Look at that stiff posture and screaming face. He was to accidentally inspire horrible bands like the Buggles, Gary Neuman and other new wave crap to come. But at the time, this approach was revolutionary. This is the year of disco and Mick Jagger. Sadly, we have have lost Tomata, so the Screamers will not be playing. But just look at that intense control balanced by ferocity. There will never be another like him.

Interplanetary Twist is my favorite Screamers song

Thanks for putting this up. There was was little girl about 14 years old wearing a jacket with a big Screamers on the back. I was trying to explain to my 11 year old daughter who they were. I'm pretty sure the 14 yr old did not have a clue who they were ;)
I first became aware of the Punk scene back in Orange County in 1980 when I was 15. We all live in LA now and my son tells me that the kids in Jr. High are Straight Edge Punks which is good to hear. We all had the attitude, without any of the outside drug influences.

Tomorrow is the book party for a book on the Masque at the Echoplex in Los Feliz/Echo Park. Try to make it up here! Old punker reunion.
