BarCampLA-4 Is Here!

BarCampLA-4-banner-wiki.gif

BarCampLA-4 is here! LAist has been a friend, attendee and proponent of BarCamp since the beginning and this time is no different. What is BarCamp? Here is their definition (it's really the best): BarCamp ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. If you like, it can be overnight, like camp!

BarCamps
- and events in the same fashion - have been popping up all over the country. It's a great opportunity to come together with like-minded people and learn, network and have fun. BarCamps traditionally untraditional concept of the un-conference is a great way to learn. Basically look at it this way - everyone is an expert is something, right? So when you get to BarCamp there are signups on the wall with time slots for the whole day and you simply put your name and what session you are going to lead and pick a spot. People will come into your session and hear what you have to say and a conversation ensues over the topic.

I've been channeling my geek side of late, diving deeper and deeper in what it means to be a geek in LA and I've found some of the coolest, most innovative and creative people around. Thanks to StartUp LA last week, I met a good 10 people who are going to be at this event and I'm looking forward to seeing those friendly faces and also meeting amazing new people.

As of right now, 110 people have signed up to attend. Check out the wiki, sign up and come down this weekend. Have we mentioned it's FREE? Well it is, thanks to the sponsors. So now you're really on the hook.

If you can't make the whole event, come for a drink.
