Vintage Halloween Albums at Scar Stuff

Vintage Halloween Albums
Remember in grade school when your teacher would break out the Halloween records? In my class there would be a selection of about a dozen and we’d get to vote on which one we wanted to hear. Yes, this was before CDs and MP3s. I'd sit on the ground Indian-style and look at the Fruit of a Loom underwear bands peeping out from the boys' pants. The teacher would dim the lights and put on the record. We’d hear scary stories, creepy sound effects and cute songs sung by ghosts.

I recently discovered the Scar Stuff Blog, a really fun collection of these spooky albums from yore. The site includes “Shock: Music in Hi-Fi” (1958), George S. Irving’s “Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz” (1986), French Horror-Psych-Prog from 1976, even Halloween safety films. You can browse the cover art and even download MP3s!

Thanks to Jason, who created such an enjoyably frightful destination for the kid in all of us.
