405 Traffic Woes: Truck/Crane crash still making red lines

It looks as if all of LA is running smoothly right now. That's because it's lunchtime, not crunch time. If you didn't take the 405 this morning, then you were spared some extra special traffic caused by some unfortunate events:

Most lanes of the 405 at La Tijera Boulevard are closed this morning after the 4:45 a.m. crash of a big rig carrying a crain [sic] that left the driver dead. Traffic is backed up from the South Bay curve on the northbound side and beyond the 10 Freeway on the southbound side. And no relief is in sight for several hours. [Bottleneck Blog]

You know how traffic goes in this city. By the time rush hour hits, the crane scene may be cleared up, but there will be phantom traffic and butterfly effects due to this. Plan ahead and good luck.

And if you're having some 405 crane-traffic déjà vu? Think again, this is the second time for 2007.
