The Dark Side of The Arcade Fire

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks of John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band every time I hear The Arcade Fire's "Keep the Car Running," off Neon Bible. I'm used to getting death threats for even suggesting that The Arcade Fire may be the most overrated band of the year but hey, it's not like I'm calling for Eddie and the Cruisers III.

They ripped off a band that ripped off the Boss... and surprise, surprise, the Boss loves 'em.

A couple weeks ago, Springsteen performed "Keep the Car Running" with Win and Régine of The Arcade Fire in Ottawa:

After the jump, Cafferty & the aforementioned Beaver Brown Band's "On the Dark Side." Go on, tell me I'm crazy.

Dear Staci,

You're crazy.

We all know that the most overhyped band of the year is Mute Math.

Let me just clarify. Your theory is that Win and Regine were sitting around and it went something like this:

***
Win:
Holy Mounties, Regine. We're oot of ideas! What are we going to do aboot it?

Regine:
Sacre Bleu! Que dans le monde pouvons-nous faire?

Win:
We need to do something to get our heads in the right place!

Regine:
Peut-être nous devrions observer le film américain "Eddie et les croiseurs" ?

Win:
That's a great idea Regine! Fire up the Beta-Max!

Regine:
Attendez, d'abord je doit nous obtenir un certain bleu de LaBatt.

Win:
Yes, some LaBatt would be nice. Boy I hope there's some songs we can steal from the movie!

Regine:
J'aussi, victoire. Où autrement devrait on rechercher des chansons pour voler que le froma peu film connu des années '80 qui unique scie ?
***

Pardon my French, but your Arcade Fire ideas are about as well cooked as Steak Tartar.

Seriously, pardon my French. I know it's terrible.

the first time i heard that song, i thought to myself "EDDIE LIVES"
