Win Tickets to see Mariza at Walt Disney Concert Hall with set design by Frank Gehry

MarizaOut of taverns and streetcorners in poor sections of Lisbon, the mournful music, that tells emotional tales of longing and loss, was born. Since then, fado has become Portugal's most famous music. With a Mozambican background and a love for the Portuguese fado singing, Mariza has become one of the world's most famous singers. Her first album went quadruple platinum.

After a 2002 visit to Lisbon, famed architect and creator of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Frank Gehry, heard Mariza sing. He fell in love with the city, the music and befriended the singer. Sunday will be Gehry's first collaboration with a performer in this capacity where his design of a taverna will set the atmosphere for Mariza's performance (if you are not familiar with her music, check it out on iTunes preview or try her website).

With that said, we are excited to be giving away a pair of tickets to this Sunday evening's 7:30 p.m. concert. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling us if you have ever been to the amazing Walt Disney Concert Hall or not. The contest ends at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow and you need to be available to confirm by e-mail (the one your login is registered with) by 4:00 p.m. back to us if you are chosen.

No. I work two blocks away and live down the street on Grand, but haven't had the chance to attend a performance.

I finally made it to the Concert Hall to see Bright Eyes after living in LA for four years. And I would LOVE the chance to see Mariza there! (not to mention even more stunning visual settings by Gehry.)

i've never been to the WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL!!

i have never been to the Walt Disney Hall and i was born and raised in LA. i suck.

i have. for the blind boys of alabama around xmas time. what a place. what a sound.

Yes, I have been to the amazing Walt Disney Concert Hall. But I sat on the last row, farthest from the stage.

I am uncultured swine and have never been to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Please allow me to move up in the world.

I've been inside for the LAphil and I love the place - more often I've explored the outside gardens and zigzagging staircases hidden in the folds of the silver exterior. I've heard fado music in other venues, but as a fan of Frank Gehry and Mariza, would love to see such an amazing combination of music and design.

I recently moved out to Echo Park, only a few metro stops from the Disney Concert Hall. I made an attempt to see what it looks like from the inside recently, but was denied. They have a great gift shop though!

yes, only once, at the grand ave. festival....

Have not yet seen a performance there but would like to very much!

I have been inside the Disney Hall once, for an evening of DJs and electronic music. It was lovely.

I've been to DCH numerous times, but I have never seen a performance there. Would love to see this show.

I too am an L.A. native and have never been to the Disney Concert Hall! But this sounds like it will be a wonderful performance.

I've only explored the outside many times and taken some awesome photos. Plus I have a great date!!

I go on average 3-4 times a month during the season. I love it. I need to find something cheaper than the patina restaurants nearby though...

I have been a handful of times and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.

I don't need tickets but I wanted to share anyway:

I've been to Disney Hall a few times, once to see a Bach cello concerto, another time to see Glenn Braca's Symphony for 100 Guitars.

An awesome time all around, and they really have great programming there.

The last visit was during the Grand Avenue festival to see Bitter:Sweet. Love the venue.

I haven't been to the Walt Disney Concert Hall but it looks absolutely amazing every time I drive past!

i have never been to the walt disney hall. it looks amazing from outside and i have always been curious if it is the same inside....

I used to work downtown and I would pass the hall everyday. I watched it emerge piece by glorious piece. There is nothing more beautiful then when the sun is shining on it. It glows like the gem it is! And no, I have not had the pleasure of stepping inside and seeing a performance. I would be honored.

I've been to Disney Hall many times, and would love to go again to see Mariza!

I too have never been to the concert hall

I would love to go see Mariza perform at the Disney Concert Hall. I have never been! It would also be a great place to take my from out of town friend!

I've been and it's fantastic. The best acoustics of any venue I've ever been too. It would be great to see Mariza in this venue.

i have never been inside the Disney Concert Hall to watch a show - i did walk around on a lunch break while i was serving jury duty in the area and found it fascinating - real curious to see a performance there - especially one with Gehry's influence

I just drove in to Los Angeles from Montreal (via Toronto) for an internship... This would be a great 'Welcome to Los Angeles' gift from my favourite group of blogs. I lived on Gothamist when I studied in New York and befriended Torontoist over the past two years. I can't wait to see what LAist has to offer!

Walt Disney Concert Hall is the best venue in the city. It's a landmark!

I have admired the outside often. My (now) wife and I even had our engagement photos taken there. But I've never been inside.

Oh, I have however been to Barrio Alto in Lisboa though.

I have seen mariza last time at her first performance ever in la in the disney concert hall.
it was amazing- she played unplugged for 3 songs, and stunned the whole audience.
it was the most amazing compliment frank gehry could get for his much oggled capacity to design a concert hall (can he do it or can he not?)
her voice traveled effortless through the space and one could hear a pin drop in the space.

i would love love love to see her again this time!

berit

i want to take my friend fereidoun there with me to show him the architecture and more of all, the music.

please let me win this.

yes, I have been to the Walt Disney Concert Hall before, but he has not.
I do want to share this with him and can not find two tickets for sale anymore.
