A quarter million people are evacuating areas of San Diego County. We knew it was coming and now, one of the worst-case wildfire scenarios imaginable is spreading through parts of Southern California.
While the rest of us stare at blue skies from cubicles at air-conditioned workspaces, here's a shortlist of media, official, and citizen coverage to keep us posted:
CBS2/KCAL9 has multiple live video feeds available here, ABC7 is live here. KNX 1070 is doing a commendable job, with several reporters on duty for over 24 hours straight now. KNX has been broadcasting commercial-free since the fires broke early Sunday. Listen in here. KFWB's stream is here.
LA City Fire Department is now live with the real-time alerts feed we told you about last summer. Subscribe via e-mail or Twitter.
SignOnSanDiego is in breaking coverage mode via text-only Fire Blog updates. With 250,000 people being evacuated from areas of San Diego County, we shudder to think of Qualcomm Stadium as a Superdome-like staging area for evacuees (or are we going to call them refugees)?

Anyone looking for live updated, I second the KNX1070 recommendation. They are providing more in terms of both quantity and quality of up to date reporting on all of the fires compared with any of the local TV around LA.
Any news or thoughts on how to help/volunteer? The fire department has been working so hard... Anything residents can do to pitch in and help? Without getting in the way?
All I can think of (aside from staying out of the way of emergency services) is maybe stopping by one of the Red Cross shelters for fire victims. The LA shelters listed for tonight are:
-- Agoura Hills High School, 28545 W. Driver Ave.
-- Pacific Palisades High School, 15777 Bowdoin St.
-- Golden Valley High School, 27051 Robert Lee Parkway, Santa Clarita
-- Saugus High School, 21900 Centurian Way
-- Malibu High School, 30215 Morning View Drive,
