Surprise, the Red Line Subway runs after 1 a.m.

Yesterday, I was talking to a friend, who lives in the NoHo Arts District, about bars in proximity to the Red Line and she mentioned a dream that many share: "You know it was also be sweet if the subway was extended to 1 a.m. or later. We could bar hop into Hollywood and back!"

Little known to many, the red line actually has one train that travels beyond 1 a.m. I explained this and she was thrilled. "Wow it goes that late?!?! I thought the last train was around 10. I hate driving into Hollywood, finding parking, etc... the NoHo station is like a 10 minute walk from me."

Last Call for Trains

You're in Hollywood and going back to the Valley
Last Red Line train at Hollywood/Vine: 12:36 a.m.
Last Red Line train at Hollywood/Highland: 12:38 a.m.
Tip: Head all the way down Ventura Blvd. on the 150 bus (.pdf) that leaves the Universal City Station at 12:43 a.m. (the train arrives at 12:42 a.m., so, uh, run!)

You're in Hollywood and heading back to K-Town or Downtown
Last Red Line train at Hollywood/Highland: 1:02 a.m.
Last Red Line train at Hollywood/Vine: 1:04 a.m.
Unfortunately, if you need to get to Wilshire/Western on the Purple Line, you must catch the last westbound Purple Line at Vermont/Wilshire at 11:36 p.m. (which means you need to catch the Red Line from H/H at 11:22 or H/V at 11:24)
