LAst Night's Action: Wild Finish (Couldn't Resist)

That's why you shoot earlier.Kings 4, Wild 3 (SO) - The Kings took down previously undefeated Minnesota, which is a surprising sign of a pulse. It did take them an extra period and a shoot-out to get their first win since upsetting Anaheim six games ago in the season opener. Jean-Sebastien Aubin made 28 saves in his first start for Los Angeles. We're not convinced Southern California is big enough for two NHL goalies named Jean-Sebastien.

Kobe Watch - Kobe is denying rumors that he emptied out his locker. The fact that he has to deny those rumors is bad enough. Don't forget that he spent the off-season talking trash on the team management and a young player. And that he asked to be traded. And that the owner said he's still open to that. Kobe looks half numb, half bitter in his recent interviews. He doesn't want to talk about it -- because it's inevitable. We've enjoyed watching Kobe play as much as the next blog, but this relationship is clearly over. If it makes you feel any better, he's missed the last three practices with knee trouble. You may remember he had knee trouble last season, too. We're not saying he's damaged goods in that way, but he is damaged goods. Best case: he's traded this week. Worst case: it manages to drag out and the Lakers lose trade value while failing to win half their games. Really, don't expect to see the Lakers in the playoffs this season if Kobe is still in purple and gold.

Elsewhere - It looks like Cleveland and Colorado will face off in the World Series. Just the match-up somebody was probably rooting for! ... If the Galaxy wanted a free kick specialist, maybe they should have signed this Venezuelan thunder-thigh (Bonus: He speaks Spanish, attracting a broader demographic) ... Eric Gagne has lost support since he was the prince of LA.
