UCLA kinda did make me get a mac not only because half the people here use one but also because UCLA students get massive discounts on Apple gear. I got my MBP with $400 off.

Don't forgot the ever growing Linux desktop. I've been using Linux for 4 years pretty much exclusively and after having used both WinPCs & Macs I have to say that although some stuff is not offered on Linux but you can do so much more with it...for free! Need a web/mail/file server? Go Linux Need to fulfill all your web browsing needs? Go Linux Need to do some Word Processing? Go Linux (via OpenOffice.org) Need to pay way too much for Software, go Apple or Windows. www.ubuntu.com ;-)

I made the full conversion to Mac in the last 2 years, and while I'm happy, please don't expect anything but god awful worthless support when it comes to Apple. As much as I'm addicted to their stupid products Apple is pretty much as horrible as companies gets. In 10 years when Steve Jobs is emperor I'll probably be sent to the guillotine for saying this.
