I agree wholeheartedly - the British version is entirely entertaining whereas the Fox version has been "dumbed down" for the American masses. I especially hate the dramatic background music and the fact that there's a stupid reality host narrator. In the British version, Ramsay narrates the show himself. The American narrator makes it sound like a lame version of "Etreme Makeover" (it may very well be the same narrator). I hope the Fox execs read comments like these to bring the show's format back closer to its British roots.

I agree!! I love the BBC version. I love Gordon's own voice over and the fact that he ALWAYS says "we" when referring to the restaurant he's in. He clearly wants people to be successful and even when the shit is hitting every fan in the place, he still doesn't step in to do the hard work, the people have to figure it out themselves.

And then there is always the "changing of the shirt" scene in the BBC version we just don't get here. (sigh)

Four times out of four, the main problem has been the manager. Though tonight's chef deserved to be shot before he was fired.

I love it when they show old English fishermen recoiling at nouvelle cuisine! Bonaparte's was dangerously bad; the only time we've seen Gordon vomit up the food.

I haven't TiVo's the American version yet. Moorpark and Tujunga? Hmmm, maybe we should start a betting pool on which restaurants they'll be.

Right on! The UK version rocks and the US version sucks!
Simple as that. Fox fucked up, and Ramsay's the worse for it.

Thank God there is someone else out there that thinks the same way about KN the way I do. I really like the BBC version and have seen almost all of them (as much as the TiVO and BBC can bear). In addition what is up with the "Gordon Ramsay Design Team" that goes in and does (an obstensibly free) renovation to the craptastic dive of the week? On the BBC version, the owners have to do all that, the FOX version is like a big freebie. The BBC version really gives the sense that the owners/staff/chef are pulling themselves up by the bootstraps. The FOX version is like "Kitchen Makeover with Gordon Ramsay". WTF is that shit?

I think they should do KN like they did it in the UK and I think that Hell's Kitchen should be transformed into the F-Word (his other BBC Show). F-Word has it's competing chefs, celebrities and the opportunity to see Gordon get skunked in a cook-off (which frequently happens), and it has seemingly real customers.

FYI, the Paley Center for the Media is hosting Gordon plus the Hell's Kitchen people for "Media as Entertainment" (or something) on the 20th of November. I bought tickets, I hope they have a little QnA for regular people (like myself) who are fans of the BBC shows and not so fans of the FOX shows. I am looking forward to it.
