Ed Banger Records show (+ Special Gues†s) @ the Viper Room, 10/8/07

EdBangerFlyer.jpg

Once this flyer made its rounds across the LA blogrings and email groups, fans of the French-born electronic act known as Justice flocked, nay, stampeded to the Viper Room Monday night to see if the renowned DJ duo would indeed make an appearence as insinuated by the cross in the word "guest". Due to my house being in fortunate proximity to the VR, I was able to see a line of tapered-jeans-and vest-clad scenesters forming at around 9:30. I initially debated whether or not I would join that line, seeing as I was already too tired/late to check out the newly added Justice show at the Fonda. Besides, I had already been there the previous night, and hell, I'm a workin' gal. But after rationalizing the fact that Justice probably won't be coming 'round these parts any time soon after, I decided to suck it up and join the line outside of Terner's liquor store (which you totally recognize in the main title of Entourage.)

Now I dont want to completely ignore the actual Ed Banger Records' headliners on the flyer, because they were pretty kickass themselves. While we were only granted access in time to check out a couple DJ's, they both rocked a 45 minute set, and the crowd was stirring throughout both performances.

But I'd have to say that the highlight of the evening was when the Brothers were ending their set. The crowd erupted as they faintly sampled Waters of Nazareth by Justice, and the French duo joined every other DJ of the night on stage and poured into a 1/2 hour melee of originals and mashups. By the end of the set, most of the crowd had joined the DJ's on stage and the place was going nuts. And typically, as these buzzkill venues tend to do, the lights turned on and the authoritative disembodied voice of the bouncer announced that we all had to "leave immediately". Whatever. With only a short walk back home, I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Monday night.

I appreciate the coverage, don't get me wrong, but JUST HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE NEEDED AT A DJ SET?

It might be more helpful if you told us about all the hip stuff to do BEFORE it happens.

it was a secret show, pouty

this site tells our readers more cool shit BEFORE it happens - and omg AFTER - than any other

so keep your damn shirt on, quit whining, and keep reading
