Venice Loves Ricky Williams, Too

Ricky Williams and Venice -- A Good Fit.

A Venice-based organization has ended their efforts to bring NFL running back Ricky Williams to Los Angeles. The group, known as Wii'd, likes to get high and play Madden 2007 on days that end in "y."

Williams, who was a college standout at Texas, has a strained relationship with the NFL due to his close relationship with Mary Jane. He recently applied to the league for reinstatement. That caused people in Denver to put up a billboard encouraging him to move there, where pot laws are less stringent.

The Venice group thought the idea was "cool" but weren't motivated to put up a billboard of their own. That may be for the best, since LA doesn't actually have an NFL team.

The campaign lost steam because Wii'd's board meeting lost quorum after three members went to Del Taco. The remaining members decided to check out a nearby drum circle, and pretty much forgot about Williams.

This article is not really based on actual facts. It's just a slow sports day in LA.
