TV Junkie: Tuesday Picks

Sarah SilvermanThis week seems to be the week that new sitcoms will be unleashed upon us. Tonight we have the bizarre historical moment in which commercial characters have now secured themselves an actual network television series. We're of course talking about Cavemen. While GEICO may have created a successful commercial campaign, one would think that the idea of a series could have been tested online much more economically. Everyone is predicting a flameout and that the show won't have more than a couple episodes aired.

8:00pm Cavemen ABC - Series Premiere. Somehow this is OK but a Cap'n Crunch cartoon series isn't.

8:00pm The War PBS/KCET - Part VII.

8:30pm Carpoolers ABC - Series Premiere.

9:00pm Queer Eye BRAVO - Season Premiere of the final season.

10:00pm Damages FX - Frobisher Frobisher Frobisher

11:00pm The Daily Show With Jon Stewart COMEDYCENTRAL - Chris Matthews is the guest.

11:30pm The Late Show With David Letterman CBS - Jude Law, Sarah Silverman, John Fogerty performs

12:05am Jimmy Kimmel LIVE ABC - Sandra Oh, Mark Ronson

12:35am Late Night With Conan O'Brien NBC - Ted Koppel, Jason Schwartzman, Dana Gould

God I hope Cavemen tanks so bad.

while I'm not really hoping that it tanks, it doesn't seem destined for greatness. I wonder what ABC has up its sleeve as a replacement? What annoys me is the absolute waste of money and talent this endeavour is. Couldn't that $$$ have been better spent on something more compelling, or is ABC really that desperate that they will do anything for just a little bit of viewership for one night of the year?
