- One strike against pirated movies: the MPAA is filing a lawsuit against internet video sharing sites cinematube.net and ssupload.com, claiming that these sites infringe upon the MPAA's copyright.
- Kiefer Sutherland could be facing up to 18 months of jail time for his drunk-driving arrest. Next thing you know he'll shave his head, get knocked up, and develop an addiction to sex while in rehab. All at the same time!
- A Santa Monica woman was sexually assaulted in her own home and then robbed of her 2003 Mercedes last night; authorities are asking people in this otherwise safe neighborhood to contact the Santa Monica PD immediately if they have information on her attacker.
- Over at KCRW, Kevin Roderick is calling for a do-over of the Phil Spector case: "They better not blow it again either, not with the boss up for reelection and voters wondering why celebrities rarely get held to account in this town."
- Where did the LA kids murals on the 101 Freeway near Main go? Looks like CalTrans painted them over.
- Immigrants to the U.S. now have to answer 100 new questions on their naturalization tests -- immigration officials redesigned the test to emphasize American history, geography, and governmental structures. The word "pilgrim" has been replaced by "colonist." Check out the new questions here.
- Those Amgen layoffs must be hitting their employees pretty hard -- authorities uncovered a suspected ecstasy lab at the Woodland Hills home of an Amgen scientist.
- The Guvnuh signed a bill this week that will enable conversion of an old women's prison into the state's first "community re-entry facility" for inmates serving the final months of their sentences.
- Tomorow is your chance to try out the Silver Lake DASH. Leave your car at home and see how many Silver Lake spots you can hit: a walk around the reservoir? Lunch at a restaurant? Grocery shopping? Music lessons? The route will be running at 15-minute intervals from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Give it a try!
