Art Round Up: The Blot, Feet on Concrete & The Municipal Art Gallery

Mayor Tony V. signed an ordinance Monday allowing the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery to have free admission. The Department of Cultural Affairs hopes the freebie will encourage more Angelenos to visit the gallery, which has been serving the community since 1951.

Located at Barnsdall Park in Hollywood, the museum has been a venue for Southern California artists for decades.

“The arts should not be a luxury available only to those who can afford them. As the cultural capital of the United States, Los Angeles must strive to ensure the public has unfettered access to the City’s arts resources,” Mayor Tony said.

The museum is currently hosting an exhibit entitled Humor Us, featuring 20 Asian-American So-Cal artists, which runs through December 30th. 4800 Hollywood Blvd.

For our friends in the South Bay, the Museum Project, Triptych: Feet on Concrete is opening tomorrow night at the Torrance Art Museum.

A series of performances based on the exhibit Themes and Variations, Abstraction in Los Angeles, is a bringing together of dance & live music to give a multi-dimensional facet to the works. The dance company is inviting the public to view behind the scene mini-documentaries about the exhibit at www.rkdc.org. 3320 Civic Center Dr., Torrance – tickets are $20.00
