Win Hollywood Bowl Bright Eyes Tickets

brighteyescontest5.jpgThe Hollywood bowl season is coming to an end, yet there are still chances to win, here at LAist. This time for this Saturday = Bright Eyes + LA Phil (Yo La Tengo + M. Ward).

How can you win these tickets? Submit a registered comment telling us your preferred transportation to the Hollywood Bowl by Thursday, September 27, 2007, 12 p.m. PST. Our favorite way of getting to the Bowl is by bicycle via the Hollywood/Highland Red Line stop. There's nothing better than riding through clogged traffic with ease and having the closest parking for free.

By foot! I live two miles away and I hoof it.

Bus? I am too new to the area to have any idea how I would get there but I would if given the op.

I'd be walking from Hollywood/Wilcox. One of the few charms of living in my awful building!

I'm quite partial to the L.A. Zoo shuttle. The surrounding Griffith Park is just really nice to see, quite a contrast to the surrounding traffic on Los Feliz or the nearby freeways. If I could remember how to ride a bike, or had a bike, I'd probably bike to that shuttle... even though it might be a work-out (good for the body).

I know in this day of global warming the right answer is bus/bike but honestly I just drive there, pay, stack park and curse it when I'm stuck there for an hour after the show. Please don't hold this against me. Please!

I take the red line until Holyywood & Highland and then walk the rest of the way up to the bowl. It's not so bad especially when you bypass everyone trying to get into the stack parking lot.

anyone who drives there is insane. as i pass by them on my bike i'm in awe as to the absurdity of it all and can't help but wonder wuts going through all you driver's masochistic minds. so yeah, i take the subway to hwood/highland red line stop and bike the short distance up the hill. there really are few things in life better than zooming past hundreds of cars not going anywhere.

i've been driving to Hollywood and Highland, parking there and taking the shuttle to the bowl, and then walking back after the show.

but now that i live in culver city, i'll be taking the park and ride option from here. sweet.

i usually plan on taking the shuttle, but end up wandering around, not able to find it, and then i end up walking.

From South Pasadena:
- Walk to the Gold Line train.
- Take the Gold Line from Mission Station to Union Station
- Take the Red Line going towards North Hollywood
- Get off at Hollywood and Highland
- Emerge to take the BowlBus Shuttle
- Have fun. So much fun.

by taxi, so then i can get all sorts of drunk

When I lived on Barham is was by bike but now as I live all the way over on the west side my favorite way is carpooling with other excited concert goers, that way only one of us has to be the dd.

Just walk from the Hollywood/Highland redline stop. It takes about 20 minutes whereas driving from there takes for fucking ever.

Four or more guests? Carpool. Otherwise we drive from Echo Park to the Redline at Vermont and then take it to H/H and walk.

Gold Line to Red Line, then I walk.

Depends on how late I am running.

Early:
Red Line (Vermont/Wilshire) -> Hollywood and Highland -> Shuttle

or
Car -> Zoo -> Shuttle

Wine! (oh wait, that was the *last* contest).

Carpool from the South Bay and arrive at the Hollywood Bowl 2 hours early -- no stress even if you're sitting in traffic, and puh-lenty of time to to relax on the grounds and imbibe on....wait for it....WINE!

I drive, find a parking lot a distance off and then walk the rest of the way.

metro does a shuttle from wilson park in torrance straight to the bowl.
it's pretty damn amazing.

via motorcycle. lane split all the way

i would skip the whole way to the bowl.

The LA Zoo shuttle is where the party's at. It's cheap and fairly quick to get there and the bus ride home is always filled with fellow drunkards and hooligans.

Shh... supaphreak, you're giving away the secret.

I remember Morrissey's show in June, some drunken ladies started a singalong of "Last of the International Playboys" on that L.A. Zoo shuttle on the way back. But this past weekend after Rufus Wainwright's show it was pretty tame... although Markie Post was there.

Yeah, it's cheap. Free parking on the lot but $3 to ride the shuttle roundtrip.

bike bike bike all the way up sm blvd yooooooo

Drive to the zoo and take the shuttle. Free parking, $3 round trip.

Worth what you save in gas, parking, and traffic frustration.

walk from beachwood canyon! fast and free (just how i like it)

i would take the red line and walk, and enjoy the pleasant music with some wine.

Chauffeured by buddy who was attempting to call my bluff...and lost...and now he owes me

My favorite way is to park at the good ol labyrinth Kodak parking structure, swing by Kellys for some desert and validation, and trek on over with cooler & goodies in hand.

Can't beat taking the Red Line to Hollywood & Highland, and then taking advantage of the "have a metro ticket ride the shuttle fo free" offer they have rockin' on... I mean, yes, it's kind of silly not to walk up the hill as it isn't really that far... but I always feel an inherent sneakiness to the fact that I got on the shuttle fer free!

Long long long drive from work in Santa Ana...and if I'm lucky: zoo and take the shuttle.....

Walk, from Franklin Village, with a picnic basket (or bag) of course.

2 bus from santa monica to highland then fixed speed or skateboard.

My date and I would drive to the ever-romantic Sierra Madre parking structure and take the Goldline to Union Station. From there, we'd walk to the Redline train and take it to Hollywood. If time is of the essence, we'd take the Zoo shuttle, which has been fantastic for past concerts.

My preferred transportation to the Hollywood Bowl... would be park and ride with the city bus. I pull into a nice quiet neighborhood off of ventura blvd and then walk to the bus stop and take the shuttle to the front gate. EASY AS PIE!

Old school baby--go to the zoo and hop on the shuttle (with my Metro ticket in hand, of course). If it's not too hot, I like to subway it to H+H and walk with a paper-bag covered beer in hand and pretend I'm a panhandler. Don't tell anyone though.

A quick walk with a bottle of wine in each hand. One for me and one for Oberst.

for some reason, the bowl has a coat check, thats where i check my rollerskates... thats right, i said it, I rollerskate to the bowl

I live in Mount Washington, so I walk to the Southwest Museum stop and take the gold line to Union Station, transfer to the red line, and take that up to Hollywood and Highland. Easy as pie! :)

Easy.
Drive there, and pay way to much for parking. I'm pretty sure that's the only way to get to the bowl.

Find free parking on Cahuenga, run across Cahuenga, walk under freeway and up Highland...

red line. pick it up from the universal station, go one stop, walk. the end

I work around Frankin and Western, so leave my car here (it's safe), walk to Western and Hollywood Red Line station and jam on up to H&H, walk. Done deal. Pray it doesn't rain. :)

gold line to the red line, always.
