Do-Over Party @ Crane's on Sundays

Due to apathy, a meager attempt to save money, and the rain (seriously! it rained!! I just wanted to say that again), I spent most of this past weekend doing fuck all at home. However, somewhere around 3 o'clock on Sunday, I got dragged out to get a few drinks at Crane's Tavern, a small bar I've only recently discovered, lurking around the corner from The Henry Fonda Theater. It's very cozy inside, like a long narrow room in someone's house, and it sports a good-sized back patio and front deck overlooking the people hoofing it to the theater. Having only seen an acoustic show there on a weeknight, I was pretty surprised when the "few drinks" turned out to be a full-on dance party in the back, complete with a dj spinning 90s hiphop, random old-school funk, and the occasional disco hit (good thing I changed out of my Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin shirt)!

Apparently, every Sunday afternoon through October, Crane's is hosting this thing called The Do-Over, and sometimes it's so crowded there is a huge line outside, so you have to get there early. But it's free! It's a bit surreal to get buzzing and dance to Soul II Soul's "Back To Life" while the sun is still up, but it's a nice way to ride out the bottom of the weekend. One drawback is that the bar is beer and wine (and cash) only, (breaks my heart), but I hear the sangria is good.

Crane's has live music inside during the week as well, so check out their schedule.
