Veer Over To The Swerve Festival

I have to say that one of my favorite things about LA are all of the festivals. I moved down to LA about 2 years ago from a small suburban town in Northern California, where our only festival was based around strawberries. And honestly, the only good thing there was the strawberry flavored beer.
Anyhow, Fuel TV is starting a new event called the Swerve Festival, which takes place at Barnsdall Park (map) on Friday, Sept. 28th and goes till Sunday the 30th.

For being a first time festival, this things got it all. There are movies like Anton Corbijn's Control, about Ian Curtis and his rise and fall with the band, Joy Division. Then there's music acts like We Are Scientists, LA's own Foreign Born (who's new album is astounding, check it out), Devotchka (who you probably remember from Little Miss Sunshine), Oh No Oh My! and a ton more. And last, but certainly not least, there are some really great artists showing artwork during the festival as well. The list of artists includes Geoff McFetridge, Ed Templeton, Thomas Campbell, Mike Mills, and even photo superstar, Terry Richardson.

Unfortunately, some of the events you do have to pay for, like seeing Control or We Are Scientists. But for most of the other activities you simply sign up and they send you a free e-ticket. That means you have a little over a week to get your's, so hurry up, this should be really awesome.
