I own a mini/compact stun pen. I wouldn't hesitate to use it if threatened. I think every one should have one now a days.

The really creepy thing is that there is a company starting to market tasers for "personal protection" use.
http://mindyephron.blogspot.com/ Check the August 15th post. Of course they are banning them, but how can anyone think that is a good idea?

I'm sorry but I'd never want to be a police officer but you have to look at it from their point of view. They deal with events like this every day and some times life threating to protect us in the end.

The person in the cell had to be contained. He could be a danger to himself, as well as officers who could be coming in the room not to mention disrupting and inciting other inmates.

The dog was definitely big enough to seriously hurt a person. It definitely could have snapped when the officers tried to detain the person. They were call to the scene and didn't know the situation, so safely handcuff the person and carefully access the situation.

The big guy was resisting arrest. You don't need to be violent to be resisting arrest. Sure there were 3 cops. The man could have hurt probably one of the officers before getting taken down but why have that happen.

The first video was the same. Again you don't have to be violent to be resisting. It was unfortunate the chair was there in the fall but frankly she was arrested for a reason.

Which brings me to another problem. The video only shows half the stories. All the "victims" were apprehended for a reason, they broke the law or did something wrong.

Sure there are bad cops that abuse their powers . I'd even go as far as a lot but it's the citizens that get more and more violent and disrespectful that result in the harsher tactics.

People are still getting shot by cops. The taser just gave them another torture device to add to their already butal arsenal.

As terrrible is that looks/sounds/is I prefer it ten times over the typical billy club version of "Policing." In our younger and slightly more immature days my friends and I used to do this sorta shit to each all the time. Mind you, pot being the facilitator of such events it wasn't all that bad. I'd take a buzz to my right butt cheek - Jackass style - over a kick to the jaw anyday.

There's definitely some major abuse going on. It always seems to be a mystery to me as to when the cops decide to tase. In the UF example, people keep pointing out that while the student was in the autitorium he was putting his hands up, etc. but if you look at what he was doing, he was forcefully shoving the officers, then throwing up his hands, then shoving again, and repeats. He was being physical. But later when there's about 6 cops on top of him and they have control of him, is when they decide to tase him instead of handcuffing or some other restraint.
