As Americans, we have the constitutional right to the freedom of speech. What we do with that right is what defines us though. Have we lost our core values so much that we can poke fun at another's religion and belief? I harbor no ill will to Ms.Griffin as she is an entertainer and this type of publicity is exactly what she needs to make her living. But, it is this sort of undignified behaviour that should not be emulated. As Americans, we have the obligation to set the example to the rest of the world. Let us show that we are a country of respect and dignity. Ms.Griffin is just an indicator of how far we have drifted from the path.

I mean it has been a bad couple of years , Gig's cancell, husband ripped her off for $70,000.00 plus, and then divorced her silly looking ass. Just like High school. Had to get that ATTENTION! I am no holy roller. I will admitt I have sin just adn you do to. I truly love Jesus. And for that fact I get offended when someone is making him look life a fool. How can she not give him any credit! He gave her life. imagine someone saying that about you, your own mother/father/the perosn you love the most on this earth. If you would not get offended you must not relaly lvoe them. It huiman instinct to defend those you love. Pointing out everyone sins such as the peopel in the catholic church is not a way of defending you opinion. You have sins to! THEY ARE HUMAN! it is up to God to judge them. I don't want to judge Kathy... Im not going to take God's job. That's up to him. I just feel sorry that she don't have him in her life. I will pray for her. I'm just trying to state teh fatc that I hate the sin not the sinner. Wheather you realize it or not, Jesus has provided us with the greatest Love you can ever imagine. I believe that most people don't even realize it because they don't even pay attention to it. They decide to live their lives selfishly and ignore the one who actaully gave them life.

Trust me, I am NO holy roller. But I am a Catholic Christian... But I can't agree with the fact that Kathy Griffin and all of you think its funny that she said that... Imagine someone telling you to suck it on national television... (or someone such as your mother/father). Its a total lie if your going to say that you'd not be offended at all. It's human instinct to become offended if someone it mocking you. Trust me, I am not perfect. Just as everyone I have many sins. But to blatently make a point to not give credit to God (in a rude way) was sad... He gave her life!!! If she didn't want to thank him, she should have just not mentioned him. Her reaction from the year before even shows that she has no class. I don't think Jesus thought it was funny. I think that he was hurt with the fact that she obviously doesn't have him in her life. Who knows, I can't speak for Him completely. But, teh fact that he died for her and you, is a huge sign that he deserves at least a thank you. I wonder if Ms. Griffin and everyone else realizes that all things spoken are being written down and you will be held accountable for them whether they be a joke or not. Whether you like it or not, you will come to the realization that EVERY KNEE WILL BOW and EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS that the LORD JESUS CHRIST is the LORD our GOD. I feel sorry for Ms. Griffin as I do for all the others that do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. His name is HOLY, he is HOLY and all will answer to him whether you believe it or not. I think Kathy must be really proud right now....I mean, she's got lots of attention because she said something some people find offensive. Which is, of course, the whole point. Those of you who call her a whore or a dumbass or a sinner or whatever the f**k you want to call her need to realize two things: 1) America is not a Theocracy, so go move to Israel if you disagree with that. 2) Everyone has a right to their opinion, no matter what it is or who they are. Whomever you are, in this country you are protected under the First Amendment of our constitution. And here's number 3: 3) If you disagree with 1 or 2, then please (like Jesus) suck it!!

I am so pleased that the majority of people here can see the humor in her remarks, that they really stick it to all those "stars' who have been thanking God or Jesus for their awards (I guess that's why the world is such a shambles - God's been out helping Justin & Beyonce with their careers and doesn't have time to pay attention to Iraq or Africa). Kathy's sense of humor is pretty strong, but, come on everybody, grow up. It was funny. At least to this 54 yr.old Catholic whoi has gotten pretty tired of people claiming God to support their own biases. Life On The D List is a very fun show, often funny, often eye-roll-worthy, often quite touching. Get a sense of humor already.

For everything that Kathy COULD have said this is nothing. What I'm shocked by is what the Catholic League President Bill Donohue, who called them a "vulgar, in-your-face brand of hate speech." #8. Theocracies, as a rule, cannot change. Nor are they systems defined by a stray thing over here, another thing over there, but not the many other things that deny their theocratic basis. The American political system can change. So rather than supporting the president, which I can't imagine I'd do in 99 out 100 situations, I'm simply writing to say don't be a talking bulldog. Object to the President's agenda. Bring about change. But if you make your political opponents want to run from you rather than engage in a needed dialogue ("Dude! This is a theocracy! It sucks!") are you really serving a purpose or are you just establishing your different-than-him credentials?

Yes, it is an American Theocracy. We've got a president who thinks the world is only 6,000 years old, is a creationist, and institutes a rebuilding regime in Iraq that asks who you voted for or your position on Roe V. Wade before you can work for them. You've got an administration pimping out organized religion to see who can qualify for faith-based initiative funds. You've got a supposed "Christian" mocking a woman on death row when he's the only individual who can grant clemency. You want a theocracy? You want to see church and state together? Move to Iran. This is my country, America. There is no establishment of religion here but there's freedom for everyone. We are the exception to the world - and unless we're willing to fight for that exceptionalism, we'll end up like the Banana Republics south of us.
