Be the Next New Pornographer and Win

A.C. Newman and Blaine Thurier of Vancouver's finest supergroup, The New Pornographers, have issued a challenge:

Translation: Make a better video than the band can, put it on YouTube, and win an iPhone... or something. (We're wondering if that "something" might include signed Neko Case undergarments, as recent history reminds us that even her used corset is worth as much as an iPhone.

The New Pornographers admit that they're not OK Go when it comes to choreography, but their tunes are certainly quirky and dance-worthy. With so many individual projects among the band's all-stars (A.C. Newman, John Collins, Blaine Thurier, Dan Bejar, Kathryn Calder, Kurt Dahle, Neko Case, Todd Fancey), it's a wonder they even have time to tour, much less waste a day shooting a video. Surely us fans have the time on our hands, right?

If you don't take this challenge personally, The New Pornographers will come to town and throw a mid-week dance party next week at The Fonda. Local faves Lavender Diamond open.

Show details and more video after the jump.

Lavender Diamond, "Open Your Heart" from Imagine Our Love:
