His show is the best! and knowing that he grew up with Pete Fornatale (correct spelling), Alison Steele (ditto), aka "The Night Bird," and all those other WNEW personalities means he's got it exactly right...such a refreshing change from the predominant self-obsessed voice on KCRW...

Gary is the best! He always responds to my emails... unlike the email form on the KCRW web site. Why do they even have it if they don't respond to questions? (and yes, I am a subscriber.)

"the open road" is probably my favorite music show on KCRW. gary calamar is, indeed, one of the least pretentious hosts at the station, and i like his taste in music and guests whom he spotlights. keep up the good work, gary!
