i would love to see some photos of you dancing with some "random mothers"!! hahaha

glad that you wandered into the EMP venue like i urged you.

i agree - don't get fooled by a few amazing, gorgeous pacific northwest days. after 5 months of only experiencing the gray mist that never seems to dissipate you will long for the warm, albeit smoggy, los angeles.

I also flew up to Seattle for Bumbershoot and loved it. It was my 3rd year in a row. Rodrigo y Gabriela were unreal as were the Avett Brothers, Andrew Bird, Viva Voce, The Cops and Gorgo Bordello. Enjoyed my blackened salmon from Ballard Brothers as well. Luckily, I returned to LA on the last day of the heat wave.

nice thorough review! and im glad that the weather was sunny for you. ive been to NYC several times, all under ideal weather conditions and it tempted me. but as you know, no one has the sunshine that LA has. so dont be fooled :)

Glad you had fun in Seattle. As an expat who has been living in LA for four of the last five Labor Day weekends, I must say I'm jealous that you made it up for Bumbershoot. I have very fond memories of seeing my favorite bands, smoking bowls under the trees near the fountain between sets, and eating cheap Pahd Thai in the (all too rare) Northwest sun.
I don't know that I would want to live in Seattle year-round again (the dreary winter/fall weather is just too much), Blue Scholars are right to say there ain't nothing better than the summer in the northwest!

How funny. Menomena was my least favorite band. Did you see Crowded House? They were amazing, and Eddie Vedder played a few songs with them. Devotchka was GREAT, and my cousin played a song with them which was just awesome to see.

Did you catch the art installation Portable Confessional Unit?
