On Moorpark Street: The Moorpark Streetcar

Ventura Blvd. is well served by three bus lines, the 750, 150 and 240. During the day on a weekday, you can pretty much walk to a stop and find a bus coming. To the north of the Valley's famous boulevard is the Orange Line, which during the same times of day seems to run every few seconds (it's only at 12 a.m. am I waiting longer than 10 minutes).

Sandwiched between those two transit corridors are three busy streets under served by public transit. Magnolia as the 183 which comes about once an hour. Same goes for the 96 on Riverside, which heads downtown. LADOT's Dash has a line that runs Moorpark between Hazeltine and Laurel Canyon every 20-minutes. It's a good line if you need to get to the Van Nuys Civic Center or Laurel Cyn/Ventura during business hours, but otherwise it is a weird little route.

In the spirit of yesterday's NoHo Streetcar fantasy map (identified in red above), why not extend the theme with the Moorpark Streetcar? Stretching from Van Nuys Blvd to the Burbank border of Clybourn St. in Toluca Lake, this back and forth line would serve mostly high-density residential and some commercial districts such as the Tujunga Village. Why not?

Map made by Zach Behrens on Google Maps. Feel free to zoom in and play, etc.

I guess because it makes too much sense...sigh. That would be so cool = no more traffic.

Wow. You guys have a lot of parks out there....

A streetcar on Moorpark?!?

You really need to stop daydreaming. This is even less likely than your original idea.
