Texas congressman Ron Paul pointed his pen at his fellow conservatives at the New Hampshire presidential debates yesterday and won the Fox News text message poll, a day after winning the Maryland Republican Straw Vote, to the outrage of Fox mouthpiece, Sean Hannity.
Hannity, who clearly hates freedom and obviously believes that all elections and polls that aren't rigged by Karl Rove must be rigged, flat out accused the American people of cheating when they used their cell phones to text message their votes into Fox.
In the video above, Hannity seems threatened that the straight-talking constitutionalist (who voted more conservatively in office than any of his fellow debaters) is being embraced by the pubic. People like real conservatives and not fakes? Surely that can sit well with Hannity who has been an apologist for most of the scandals that the neocons have been at the heart of, the war in Iraq included.
Wednesday Paul won the 11-day Maryland Straw Poll, in a race that saw Rudy Giuliani come in second, actor Fred Thompson in third, and former governor Mitt Romney in fourth.
After the jump see what the Fox tv viewers, the voters in Maryland, and the Internet was all charged up about in last night's debates.
Ron Paul's answers in the New Hampshire GOP debates

wow, this is now getting hilarious. Let's just make sure we all have this straight.
Ron Paul supporters (Tony included) will trade these:
a woman's right to an abortion and emergency contraception, unemployment benefits, social security benefits, stem cell research, same-sex adoption, birthright citizenship, UNICEF etc. etc.
for this:
legalized pot.
Tony is willing to give up many of the rights and freedoms that his mother, sister, daughter, wife, whoever, hold dear. Why, and over what? Pot.
You have got to be kidding me.
That's funny. If you think the only thing to gain from a Ron Paul Presidency is pot, you are either incredibly naïve or in some way benefiting from our corrupt politicians. Either way, you need to get educated or at least have the balls to say I am a crook.

IA REPUBLICAN ONE POLL - Aug 30, 2007
Today, ONE released a survey of 500 past Republican Iowans likely to attend a Republican presidential caucus.
* The poll found that Mitt Romney leads among the Republican Presidential candidates with 35% of the vote, followed by Rudy Giuliani (12%), Fred Thompson (11%) and Mike Huckabee (11%).
Another 10% of voters are undecided.
@ #2
Okay, enlighten us. What do we have to gain from his presidency other than the dubious claim of legalizing pot and the economically crippling claim to get rid of income tax?
an end to the American empire and the beginning of hope for peace in this world. An end to being the world leader in imprisonment. And pot.
I'd like to see the pot question posed to candidates that I actually give a fuck about.
The abortion issue is a deal-breaker. Justice Stevens is 87 years old, and Roe is in serious jeopardy if his replacement is appointed by an anti-choice candidate. Scalia, Thomas, and Alito are all locks to vote to overturn, and Roberts probably would, as well (his statements regarding precedent notwithstanding).
Not that this is the only issue on which Ron Paul is terrifying. The fascination with this guy is baffling.
That said, I think Ron Paul supporters deserve more credit than #1 gives them. They're not in it for the pot -- LAist has pretty regular proof that people don't seem to have much trouble getting pot even while it's illegal.
Let me answer each claim with facts. Ron Paul is a States Rights Constitutionalist. That means he believes the states should offer these services and decide the local laws and not the Federal Government. I just picked up the phone and called my local state assemblyman. Try doing that sometime with your Federal Congressman or Senator.
“a woman's right to an abortion and emergency contraception”
Wrong, Ron Paul is personally against abortion and believes it should be left up to the states and not the courts or the Federal Government. . If you live in a state that votes for it, then he supports your right to do so.
“unemployment benefits”
Wrong again, Ron Paul is against giving away money for any reason and believes it should be left up to the states and not the Federal Government. If you live in a state that votes for it, then he supports your right to do so.
“stem cell research, same-sex adoption”
Wrong once more, Ron Paul is against the Federal Government getting involved in these personal issues for any reason and believes it should be left up to the states and not the Federal Government. If you live in a state that votes for it, then he supports your right to do so.
“social security benefits”
Way wrong, Ron Paul believes the Federal Government made a promise to the current people that have started on the old system. All new workers should have a write to do something else and he support that right. It is a flawed system and used for too many things that the states should provide.
Good response to the fear tactics in the first post.
Ron Paul would be the most Freedom Loving President you have every seen in your lifetime
and also the most compassionate. He is a doctor not a lawyer. Lawyers have learned to lie to screw people. Doctors save lives.
I vote for the Dr. of Freedom!!!!
You know, I think we hashed out that states rights issue 150 years ago, and the states rights camp lost. And for good reason. Leave everything to the states, and nothing gets done. Most of the country is stuck with a bunch of yahoo reactionaries with their heads up their asses, writing morality into law while they hook up in airport bathrooms.
Think of it this way ... you take all the powers of the federal government and hand them to the states, you suddenly have 50 more opportunities for graft and corruption. Small governments are no more likely to be pure than big ones. In fact, the opposite is true, because there's less oversight.
I knew people in Dixie were still living the Civil War. (Forget Hell!!!) I didn't know it was such a big thing out here.
Embraced by the pubic... that's Ron Paul for you
