With such a groundswell of support for Ron Paul, why isn't the GOP embracing the most conservative congressman on the hill?
According to this video, seen on Capitol Annex, Paul delegates who arrived on time at an event in Texas were not allowed to vote.
Why wouldn't the GOP be interested in a candidate who could get a lot of Democrats to vote "this one time only" for a man who wants to get rid of Income Tax, legalize marijuana, and stop engaging in illegal and unconstitutional wars?

""Why wouldn't the GOP be interested in a candidate who could get a lot of Democrats to vote "this one time only" for a man who wants to get rid of Income Tax, legalize marijuana, and stop engaging in illegal and unconstitutional wars?""
This is just a hunch, but it's probably because the GOP is interested in keeping the income tax, maintaining marijuana prohibition, and potentially waging more illegal and unconstitutional wars.
If Ron Paul is so great, why is he running as a Republican? Don't get me wrong, I like his stance on the war and think he is the only genuine human being among the Republican candidates. But why on earth would he want to associate himself with the lying, inept, corrupt, racist, vote-stealing, boy-touching GOP? Sorry, but there is something seriously misguided about a so-called Libertarian trying to have his cake and eat it, too by swimming with these sharks.
We need to talk my man.
He's running as a Republican because he thinks that low taxes, small government, and freedom is what being a Conservative is all about.
the corruption, he'd say, i think, is what happens when you mix Neo-Cons with big government.
actually i think in an interview he had either on the daily show or the colbert report he said he was running as a republican because he knew he'd never win as a 3rd party candidate. . . and now that i think about it i'm pretty sure it was the daily show. . .
"why isn't the GOP embracing the most conservative congressman on the hill?"
Because the GOP is not what it used to be. Turncoats.
"If Ron Paul is so great, why is he running as a Republican?"
Maybe because he's been a Republican Congressman for like, 10 terms?
He led the Texas Reagan delegation to the National GOP Convention in 1976.
Can't really recognize a true (Whig) Republican when you see one anymore, can you?
Ron Paul is the only real Statesman and Patriot in this race.
The Champion of The Constitution.
Don't be fooled by the imposters.
any democrat who would ever consider voting for ron paul isn't actually a democrat at all.

Paul has stated that among the entities he would like to eliminate completely are the Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Energy, IRS, FEMA, NAFTA, WTO, NATO, and even UNICEF.
Paul would like to abolish the entire social safety net which was one of America's greatest advancement towards equality in the 20th century. (unemployment benefits, social security etc.)
Paul is pro-life.
Paul says that the Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
Paul is against federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.
Paul sponsored a resolution for School Prayer.
Paul has voted against funding same-sex adoption.
Paul opposes birthright citizenship.
Paul introduced The Sanctity of Life Act of 2005, a bill that would have both defined human life to begin at conception, and removed jurisdiction over abortion prohibitions from the federal courts.
Paul introduced the We the People Act, which would forbid federal courts (including the Supreme Court) from hearing cases on subjects such as the display of religious text and imagery on government property, abortion, sexual practices, and same-sex marriage, would make federal court decisions on those subjects non-binding as precedent in state courts, and would forbid federal courts from spending any money to enforce their judgments.
yeah so hes a conservative, #5
why do you act so surprised?
didnt i say that in the very first line in this post?
what he wants to do is take power away from the Federal government and give it back to the people and to the states - whats your gripe with that?
i suggest you get out of this "oh hes not a democrat" bullshit. who cares that hes not a democrat? he wants to get rid of the IRS. just one of the wasteful federal government problems that we have that you just list off.
think outside of your little (d) or (r) box, #5 and ask yourself - how has letting the Federal Government - especially the Executive Branch - wield so much power benefited you in the last 6 years?
if you seriously think that the federal government will use its time and resources to helping You instead of Itself then you have been paying way more attention to (d) and (r)s than you have to the big picture.
when the (d)s got a majority in congress what change place?
no change took place. thats right. Bush still is able to ask for $50 billion for the war, no Impeachment proceedings have taken place, and we're no closer to finding Osama.
the Federal Government is doing exactly what it did before Nancy Pelosi.
so fuck the federal government, and fuck people who believe in it in 2007.
give the power back to actual representatives of the people, like ron paul, who in turn will give the constitution and the power back to the people.
"why isn't the GOP embracing the most conservative congressman on the hill?"
"because the GOP is not what is used to be turncoats!"
oh they're embracing him, the wrong way, but they're scared to see the numbers starting to back his campaign! the corporate media is doing everything to downplay his growing popularity, which is actually feeding the fire!
his impecable life
his voting record
STAND ALONE!
the only real Hope for our country IS RON PAUL
unless you're looking forward to more of the same voting fraud, more wars, more freedoms fading fast, Real ID act, etc-loose borders during times of "terrorism" (who's the REAL terrorist?) more jobs lost, inflation, etc, etc, etc
do your research! Vote w/ your heart!
TC for Ron Paul, KY
I think #5 supplied many a reason not to vote for Ron Paul. I'll add one: he has about as much of a shot as Mike Gravel.
All you hear about is Paul's war stance. They don't advertise the ugly much.
Tony, think of someone but yourself for a second.
If you didn't have such a boner for "take down the IRS, rahh!!" you might see that Paul has absolutely no respect for the constitution or many of the personal rights afforded to us by it and the supreme court.
1. Need to get an abortion? Sorry, Paul worked to overturn Roe v. Wade.
2. Looking for emergency contraception? Sorry, Paul worked to make sure it wasn't available.
3. Lost you job? Sorry, Paul worked to stop unemployment benefits.
4. Don't have retirement benefits? Sorry, Paul worked to stop social security benefits.
5. Your child suffers from cancer or another disease? Sorry, Paul is against federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.
6. You're a same-sex parent hoping to adopt? Sorry, Paul doesn't think you should be able to do so.
7. You were born in the U.S. but your parents were here illegally? Sorry, Paul opposes birthright citizenship.
8. You'd rather your agnostic kids not be beaten over the head with religion in school? Sorry, Paul sponsored a resolution for school prayer.
9. Wish the U.S. would do more to help HIV/AIDS in Africa? Sorry, Paul had the U.S. withdrawal from UNICEF.
10. You'd like to appeal your state's court decision on the display of religious text on government property? Sorry, Paul worked to forbid federal courts (including the Supreme Court) from hearing cases such as these.
The list goes on and on, but you're too damn self-centered to give a shit about what will hurt anyone but yourself.
Dear #9,
It has been at least a month since I last re-read my pocket copy of the U.S. constitution...could you please jog my memory and cite where those ten things are found in the consitution? Really...I don't seem to remeber where those "rights" are listed in the constitution. Thanks for the clarification!
and while you're working on that question #9, here are a few more
11. you call me self-centered but why are you so in favor of making everyone else pay Income Tax?
12. you claim to be so in favor of personal rights, but where does your candidate get off telling Americans that weed shouldnt be legal even though it has never killed anyone?
13. are you pretending that the states can cover the rights you bring up, or are you just ignorant to that fact?
14. what other things to you pretend not to know to selfishly promote your agenda(s) anonymously?
so, basically tony, you want weed legalized and fuck the rest?
if by fuck the rest you mean take the power away from the executive branch and the feds and back to the people and the states, like the framers wanted it, then yes
Yeah, cuz fuck the purpose of the federal government. I mean, shit, who needs crap like the civil rights act. We should just let the south re-segregate and do whatever the fuck they want.
Tony, I respect you but I don't think you've thought things through very much. Just because the executive branch hasn't wielded their power responsibly in ages doesn't mean we should dissolve the federal government. And I'm quite sure you haven't done all of your homework on the "framer's intentions". Otherwise you wouldn't have made it sound like there was anything even approaching a consensus among them.
