For almost a year now, the southern corners of National Boulevard and Overland Boulevard have not had anything on them. Now, in the last week, they're bustling with activity. On the eastern corner, where there was once an Arco, a plywood fence has gone up (now it's festooned with posters) and on the western corner, where the stripped Blockbuster still advertises the video release of The Omen remake last October (saw it, not great) a mysterious sign has gone up announcing the incoming Farm Boy: Fresh Fruits and Vegetables.
Living so close to a good farmer's market (the one on Main Street in Culver City, Tuesdays from 3pm-7pm), I wondered, will this place offer me something I don't already have access to? I googled it -- and came up with a Farm Boy, but it was in Canada, so that was out. After a couple of different permutations, I found one in Long Beach. Its single Citysearch review is glowing, so I called them, but they insisted they only have one location and no plans for more.
So I pose the question to you, good readers, anybody know anything about this mysterious Farm Boy in Palms?
Farm Boy (Long Beach), 6451 East Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA

Sounds like there's one in Sherman Oaks too...
Yup, I've never been in there but there is a Farm Boy in the same strip mall as the Sherman Oaks Trader Joe's. It's located at the corner of Riverside and Hazeltine (one small block east of Van Nuys Blvd).
and I forgot to mention it has been there for a ong time already.
its great! has amazingingly fresh and cheap sushi as well as fruits and veggies of all sorts very cheap and beautiful flowers! you r very lucky!
There's a move afoot (well, just me right now) to rename the Culver City Farmers Market as the Culver-Palms Farmers Market, because about one-third of it (north of the alley) is actually in Palms.
Culver City can boast the "shortest main street in the world" because the reach north of the alley is actually in Los Angeles and is offically part of Bagley Avenue. It's the stretch where the Jolly Green Giant stands.
I telephoned the manager of the market about this and he said he'd check on it but I haven't heard anything for about a month now.
Sincerely,
George G.
Ask and you shall receive! Thanks everyone! I hope this is the same one as in Sherman Oaks -- that one sounds great. (speaking as someone who found a number of Farm Boys that this isn't!)
I am intrigued also by this Farm Boy sign in Westside Village. I guess it's not related to the Canadian Farm Boy...???
