global warming is a likely contributor to the events last night as well as the increasingly hot weather. global warming also probably relocated our normal precipitation, therefore, leaving SO CAL in a harsh drought. yes, 'flex yer power, kids.'

The thunder was so loud and violent at around 4 AM, I jumped out of bed not knowing what the hell was going on. I thought something had crashed into my house. It even set off car alarms. I barely went to sleep but it was tough.

We got alot of lighting, rain and thunder overnight. At one point I swear the lighting was striking right in my front yard! I agree Elise the sky was beautiful this morning. I wish I had time to snap some pics...

The sky was so beautiful this morning right before dawn. The clouds were so black they blended into the mountains.

That thunder and lightning was amazing! I couldn't (can't) sleep since the storm, so I took some pics. Didn't capture any of the good forks of lightning, but I got one okay pic.
