No picks tonight because after a week of glorious vacation, vapid programming's got me down. Dear Holly Hunter, I love you desperately, and you are positively MILFy in TNT's Saving Grace but that goddam thing has turned into Touched By An Angel and it just doesn't have the legs so give us all a break.
So what can a man do but look hopefully to the future. In a coupla weeks FX's It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is coming back and hey lookie here, they got a MySpace page like all the grown-up shows have and aren't they funny with the Mac commercial parodies (my fave is above). Whereas Damages is the opportunity for Glenn Close to go buckwild with the whole drama thing on FX, IASIP is where Danny DeVito can get a little crazy on cable.
In other news, LA's own PBS powerhouse, KCET, won 6 Los Angeles Area Emmys, beat out only by the steadfastly commercial KCBS who won 7.

Actually, KCET and KNBC both tied for the most, with six. KCBS/KCAL together scored four, while KCBS by itself won an additional three (while KCAL independently won one) bringing the full KCBS/KCAL duopoly to eight. But as individual stations on their own, KCET and KNBC won the most.
thanks Franklin Avenue! And thanks in particular for using the word: duopoly
