LAst Night's Action: Here Comes The Boom(er)
Dodgers 6, Mets 2 - Los Angeles might be wishing they picked up Boomer sooner. They took advantage of the shiny new toy latest addition, as 44 year old veteran David Wells pitched five innings to pick up career win 236. He allowed two runs on seven hits, but did throw four scoreless innings. He also had a bunt single to lead off the fifth and scored later in the inning.
Angels 3, Blue Jays 1 - Kelvim Escobar pitched eight strong innings to beat his old team. Garret Anderson hit a solo shot, and Gary Matthews, Jr. had a stolen base before coming home on a throwing error. LAnaheim has a two game lead over the Mariners and travel to Seattle tonight.
Rapids 3, Galaxy 0 - Where's Beckham when you need him? Oh, that's right. He was back in Los Angeles taking a nap while his team traveled to Colorado for a thorough whuppin'. It looked like the fans were having more fun without him, anyway.
Chivas USA 1, Real Salt Lake 0 - Chivas GK Brad Guzan got his ninth shutout of the season and third in a row to lead the candystripers to the victory. Unlike Beckham's team, it looks like Brad's will make the playoffs.
Elsewhere - America won it's third straight little league world series, this time on a walkoff home run ...Fires have been coming close to the site of the ancient Olympics in Greece ... Maybe Beckham could use some help from somebody half his age ... Did one of the best athletes in the world have a heart attack at age 22?
