Where to Eat Brunch This Week

Tucked behind a small building with a mostly unnoticed facade on Ventura Blvd. is a little homestyle cafe called Vivian's. The quaint and calm outdoor patio is only the beginning of what is a community of regulars, friendly and cute waitresses and weekday freelancers starting their days late.

Within the menu of the usual breakfast items, everyone raves about the banana pancakes and the house omelet, which has avocado and grilled chicken breast. The portions are plentiful and generously priced.

We're not fans of Vivian's on the weekends when the whole world wants brunch as the cafe is small, very small. Rather, we prefer visiting on a lazy Tuesday morning when the air is casual, the food is not rushed and the french toast is extra fluffy.
