It has been quite some time since we have seen the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in LA.
Last night's show at the beautiful Mayan Theatre downtown was a reminder of why we need to see this band here more often.
Full Review and Lots O' Pics of Karen O. and the boys after the jump...

Between trying to ingest the microphone and constantly dancing, YYY's lead woman Karen O was a constant spark of energy. From the very instant they hit they stage she was set to 11, only coming down to perform a moody version of their most well known track "Maps." The crowd ate up every ounce of Karen O's antics as she put on and took of various items of clothing.

The music itself was loud and rocking, with Karen O screeching and screaming out hits like the previously mentioned "Maps", "Cheated Hearts", "Gold Lion" and my personal favorite as well as what seemed to be the crowd favorite "Y Control." This was my first experience seeing the YYYs live and I was completely entertained. I love watching bands and artists that basically don't give a shit and let go when they are on stage, letting their music take control and guide their antics. Karen O was operating entirely off her music and feeding of the crowds energy.
It is great to have a venue like this in downtown, the acoustics were great as the band sounded loud and full, but not to ear bleeding levels. I hope they continue to book acts like the YYYs here and continue bringing good music to spots other than the usual joints around town.
