This gives a great glimpse into the Market! I love going to the market, but never thought to ask about the history of the people working there, that's so cool what you have up. Great post!!

Love it all, and now I am hungry! Way to screw up the diet, laist! I kid. But the new Dupars makes me sad - I miss the old u-shaped counter, it always let one travel back in time. Yummmmm...Time travel and pie....

the beignets are also amazing but
i usually get so excited before eating
them that i take a huge deep breath
and accidentally inhale the powdered
sugar into my lungs and cough uncontrollably
for 10 or 15 minutes before i can try
again to take a bite only for the same
thing to happen. this is sad times.

mmmmm... market.....

the farmer's market is my favorite place in the city.

the first time i went there i was like "OH! here's where
all the old people are. i couldn't find them. i was relieved.

my yummiest treats include:
- dark chocolate covered pistachio marzipan @ little johns toffee
- falafel @ moishe's
- mole chicken @ loteria
- and of course ANY crazy beverage @ the refresher

I'm down with Tony for the Gumbo Pot. But I go for the catfish po'boy and their green salad with candied walnuts, homemade pickles and tart green apples in a buttermilk dressing. Good red beans too.

Gotta second Patsy's. If it was gotta enough for Ol' Blue Eyes, it's good enough for me.

Also, awesome pictures.

Patsy's Pizza was my favorite pizza in all of L.A. (only recently usurped by the arrival of Vito's) ever since I held my first summer job there at 14 back in 86.

Rose D'Amore took over the joint after her husband Patsy passed on. I worked with her granddaughter, Angelique. She was a hottie and all the boys came looking for her. She was the first person I ever met that wore extensions in her hair.

The Persian boys all worked at the BBQ joint and rode around on their crotch rocket bikes in the parking lot around B. Daltons. We all flirted with those older boys.

The Farmer's Market was my playground. Thank you for this post.
