Sarah, lovin your ardent defense of Mr. Jessica Biel. And I have to concur, he gets a bad rap because he was NSYNC, but he's about as cutting edge as anyone in today's pop scene. His shrilly voice can grate sometimes, but I'm not gonna hate - the boy has talent.

Okay, once again, Justin Timberlake is not a joke.

Has anyone listened to the album? Don't knock it till you try it.

I know I'm probably late to the party here, but, geez, folks, can't you tell when you're being pranked?

I mean, seriously - what are the chances that anyone who prides themselves on having "amazing music taste" is even going to admit listening to Justin Timberlake, let alone inflicting him on hapless passersby?

It's just flamebait. No one could really be that clueless.

I'd much rather hear some music than some rich prick's loud-mouth bluetooth conversation with his lawyer/ex-wife/coke-dealer while he cruises around in his topless Benz, or whatever car is popular with the loud-mouth rich prick crowd.

Whenever some self-righteous moron pulls up next to me blaring Justin Timberlake or some other crap, I respond by popping in a Sesame Street or Barney the Dinosaur tape and replying in kind. Then you'll see how fast someone who expects everybody else to just get over it gets pissed off.

A lot of uptight comments, please get over yourselves. Crying about people playing music loud in their cars isn't gonna change anything... Don't wanna hear someone else's music, then role your window up...

If you're next to someone bumping their music at an intersection, you're stuck there for a minute at most. Oh, the horror! Stop crying and deal with it. It's one fucking minute.

However, if you're playing music of questionable taste at loud volumes, don't be surprised when people look at you like you're retarded. Blasting Rubber Soul will ellicit a very different response from blasting Trapped in the Closet.

BLA BLA BLA... This is Los Angeles. Blasting your music out of your car was invented here. Shit, West Coast gangsta rap, with it's booming bass lines, was born out of the LA tradition of rolling around with your music on high. Yeah it might be annoying but hey, no one says you can't do it either. Sometimes I even bump KPFK at full volume, just for fun.

my god, you commenters are uppity. i don't think she was driving around with the music BLASTING. i know for a fact that it doesn't take much bass to make the car rumble. even if it did, get over it. i never knew laist readers were so fucking angry and uptight about everything. go move to the burbs if you want peace and quiet all the time. now that i know there's so many people hating on the loud music, i'll make sure to turn it up even louder just to piss all you assholes off. take the sticks out of your asses and suck on em, bitches!

I generally don't mind other people listening to loud music in their cars because I do it myself, usually on the beautiful sunny afternoons as described above. However, I also drive a Bug and the egg shape amplifies *everything* [think of the domed part of the Hollywood Bowl], so I keep it down in everyday traffic and save the blasting for cruising around on weekends.

The only people who roll down their windows and put their stereo system on blast for the whole of Los Angeles to hear are the ones who want attention. Why should I be subjected to what you're listening, whether you have great taste or not?

You share the road with thousands of people, I don't think any of them are interested in having their own personal dj in the middle of the 405 while they have other things on their mind.

If you want to blast your music, do it in your own house on your own time or do it with your windows rolled up, in your own personal space. The highway is not your dance floor.

I think you must be joking- come on, Justin Timberlake? I dont know who UBK is but I guess I can fill in the blanks. I'll pretend youre not for a moment(really just to give myself the satisfaction of putting in my two cents!)

If the bass was making your car shake, the other cars felt the shaking. Guaranteed. Thats why it was so obnoxious. Yes, I enjoy blasting my music and screaming along to Patsy Cline or Fiona Apple. But I close my windows and turn it down when stopped in traffic or at a light. Or on a residential street late at night- its just common courtesy.

Does your music offend me?... Maybe yes, maybe no. Does your indifference to everyone else around you offend me? Why, yes. Yes it does. You don't live in giant soundproof bubble, and hard as it may be to believe, there are other people in the world. So turn it down.

I don't want to hear your music. Have the good sense to turn it down when you pull up to an intersection and contaminate the listening air of the vehicles around you....particularly since you have such terrible taste in music. When I can hear your music over my music, it becomes a problem.

I don't think its thoughtless, rude, annoying, whatever. I just ignore it and let it slide. Whats with all these hyper-sensitive people caring so much if it doesn't actually harm someone or yourself. Its just a little music.

People always seem to underestimate the volume of their own music, and then are shocked to find it disturbs others. I'm with those who hate listening to other people's music, no matter what it is. I don't want your taste, no matter how impeccable, spilling over into my afternoon. It's just thoughtless and rude.

And yeah ... Justin Timberlake? I'm surprised you didn't get run off the road.

I don't think the look on the other drivers' faces were so much disgust, but more of concern. I would go so far as to alert the authorities that there was a driver who prided herself on listening to Justin Timberlake on full-volume. After all, 14-year olds aren't legally allowed to get their license yet.

You must be one of the people I dislike when I'm sitting at a intersection and I have to listen to your music.

"The music was turned up loud and the bass made my car rumble,"

So I'm sorry, but you're just annoying me. I don't care of it is UGK or Tumberlake or even Tony Bennett. Now I don't claim that I don't turn my own music up - but my windows are up so I'm not disturbing everyone else.

We all share the roadways - us, cyclists, pedestrianss. Play nice with with your neighbors.

The only thing that makes me feel right at home in Los Angeles, is to play "Stuck in a moment that you cant get out of" by U2 in my car at full volume with all the windows down and singing along at the top of my lungs, surely no one can take that away from me.

or can they? hmm

I don't do that kind of thing, but no, it's not offensive to me.

What is are those idiots that turn it up so high your car is vibrating and it's giving you a headache..and they're a couple of cars behind you. Once I was driving around in Fullerton and this happened...I went way over the speed limit and almost ran a few lights trying to escape that car because it was painful and deafening to even be anywhere near it.
