Every Friday @ noon, Farmlab Public Salons opens the doors and offers lectures, discussions and lunch, free-of-charge!
Farmlab is located in a warehouse across the street from the park formally known as “Not a Cornfield” and serves as a think tank for artists, activists, community leaders and those that simply want to save the world.
This Friday, August 17, the Park(ing) Day LA team will be screening a film on Rebar, the San Francisco group of artists who put a quarter into the parking meter, partook of the best real estate deal in town, the curbside parking space, and then proceeded to turn it into a park(ing) space.
This simple act is meant to stimulate a dialogue in our communities about our public space, how it’s allocated and how we use it.
The impact was tremendous and the following year there were park(ing) spaces all over the city. This year, on September 21, LA will be creating park(ing) spaces on busy boulevards such as Hollywood, Sunset, and Wilshire, as well as conducting a bike ride tour and a park(ing) lot after-party.
illuminateLA is leading a bike ride to Friday’s Farmlab Salon beginning at the Santa Monica & Vermont Red Line Station at 11:00 am.
See you on the Streets!
