The Magic Numbers, "Crazy in Love"
The Magic Numbers are in town which is always a good thing. This morning they visit Nic Harcourt at KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic where they will perform songs from their two records, and hopefully bust with that Beyoncé tune that they did for this year's KCRW's Sounds Eclectic - The Covers Project.
The fact that that tune is our favorite cut from the album, which you might have seen in your local Starbucks, is inconsequential to the fact that we have a pair of tickets for tonight's show at the El Rey that we are required by law to give to you. It's a new law. It's a nice law. It's magical law.
To enter this giveaway, tell us what has been your favorite LAist post of the summer so far. Only registered commentors will be considered. If you're not registered, get to it, it only takes seconds, and like Mr. K's oath, signing up to comment here will change your life in magical ways.
Because the show is tonight, the contest ends at 2:22 pm so dig through the archives and tell us the story you liked the most. One random winner will be contacted this afternoon at 2:30pm, so when you register, make sure you sign up with an email addy that you check during the daytime. If we don't get a response back from the winner by 3pm, we will email someone else. Good luck!

my personal favorites were the "golden girls gone wild," just because that elicited the best responses from my friendswhen i showed it to them. also, everything about the arcade fire and the decemberists shows! hope i can win me some tix for another great show!
definitely the MIA post about her adding a second show at the Echoplex. i had missed out on the first show, so it was a relief to get tickets for the second show. it was an amazing night, and i was a grateful LA-ist reader that day.

The blogs about J-girl and her J-dates had me rolling in my chair. Loved the honesty and humor.
I hope it's not a copout to pick a group of posts, but I love the Neighborhood Project. It's so beyond the usual descriptions of what is in each neighborhood and we find three or four things about each neighborhood that we didn't know, even in neighborhoods we know really well. The detail on these posts is great and the authors really put a lot into it.
i must concur with chennessey about the neighborhood project - for someone like myself who just moved to LA, it's been a great introduction to many parts of the city beyond where friends normally have taken me since i've arrived
The interview with Luke Ford re Mayor Tony! The people of LA need to know.

how do you beat Perseid meteor shower?
My favorite post was The Neighborhood Project dedicated to Van Nuys!
The post detailing how to call the City of LA so that your apartment building can start to recycle for free.

I've forwarded it to countless people, and now they don't have to carry their own recycling out and dump it into a neighbor's blue bin!
