The whole "Bush's Brain" thing is misleading, anyway - Karl's talent was never about policy advice for a sitting president - Karl's all about the spin, the propaganda, the media manipulation and the vote-rigging needed to win (or at least steal) the election. Once George Dubya got into office, he was on his own as far as brainpower was concerned - with the entirely predictable results we've seen.

Personally, I'd love to think this was a triumph for the Forces of Good and Righteousness; but if history is any guide, I'd say that Karl is setting off on his "Rig The Election 2008 Tour", and, since Dubya isn't running for re-election, he's better off outside the official power structure, where he can encrypt his emails and burn-bag his memoranda without having to worry about violating Public Records laws.
