Bush's Brain Cuts-and-Runs in Shame - Who's Next?

rove dancing away The President's right-hand man, Karl Rove, the mastermind behind most of the Republican dirty tricks that got Bush in office twice, as well as the puppetmaster behind so many of the scandals that the GOP is still smarting from, is tapping out early.

By the hair of his chinny chin chins he escaped having to testify under oath when his boys got caught outting a CIA agent in the middle of a war because they were upset about a column in the newspaper that her husband wrote.

As Rove cuts and runs, it's fascinating to how the GOP columnists and bloggers try to spin this ultimate surrender.

By leaving, Rove could be doing his last bit of service to the president: If it’s a successful last year, the myth of “Bush’s brain” may be laid to rest. - Kathryn Jean Lopez, National Review's The Corner
This is why you don't put Baby in The Corner. Cuz you're dreaming, baby.

The President had both houses of the Congress, the Courts, a lot of the US, and then the world's support right after 9/11and the only thing he's been successful at is earning the crown of the Worst President Ever.

rove dancing away

His departure will no doubt be the subject of celebration for the president’s most vociferous critics, but I think they’ll wind up missing him more than the president’s supporters. They won’t have Rove to kick around any more, and after the shock wears off, it will become apparent how silly all the Rove-kicking was from the beginning. - Captain's Quarters
Who needs Rove to kick around any more when you have oh so many more scoundrels, liars, and failures left?

If kicking around is your thing, there is the Attorney General, who could be the worst liar in the entire administration and the biggest joke. He gets caught at everything that he tries to cover up and his entire staff has bailed out, tries to avoid testifying, and when they do they usually say what everyone knows - that Alberto Gonzales is such a rube that he makes W look like a damn genius... which is probably the only reason the president keeps him around. That, and the fact that he is a beautiful red herring in terms of impeachment, as those who are thirsty for a smooth forced-resignation are more likely to waste their time booting the AG out than the #1 and #2.

But that's low-hanging fruit compared to the ass kicking you could deliver upon the Vice President, the most hated man in Washington, and the gentleman who in 1994, during the Clinton administration, said in the video above that trying to remove Saddam would create a quagmire in Iraq... and pretty much everything that has happened since we invaded them after 9/11.

It will be interesting to see what Dick Cheney is remembered more for in the future - being re-elected thanks to Rove's brilliant, last-minute attack on Gay Marriage, which freaked out middle America and had them rushing to the polls to save the sanctity of marriage, a push that was totally supported by the VP even though he has a daughter who is a lesbian. Or for the time he went hunting for quail and shot a senior citizen in the face while drunk and totally got away with it.

Or those who desire to kick someone around could simply take aim at the President's behind, which has the biggest bullseye of all. For years now the GOP has had their fun trying to denigrate Bill Clinton's overwhelmingly successful administration over the One fuckup he made.

Meanwhile if it's Presidential target practice that you're after, just load up on any of these, actual serious George Bush blunders and scandals that Rove refuses to provide cover over:

His involvement in the Plame affair, where the fuck are the WMDs, after all these years and still no proof of a relationship between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda, and whaddup with the Niger uranium forgeries, cant forget the Downing Street memo, Abu Ghraib & rendition - whoops, domestic spying, UN spying, BushCo paying off journalists in the US and abroad, not to mention Katrina, Walter Reed, Dubai Ports, Halliburton, Pat Tillman, Heck of a Job Brownie, Harriet Myers, Signing Statements, Recess Appointments, and the Commutation of Scooter Libby's sentence, biggest surplus ever turned into the biggest deficit ever, highest prices for gasoline ever while his buddies the oil companies announce their largest profits ever.

For starters.

Although one of the biggest rats have left the sinking ship there are plenty to pick off if that's your thing. So it's more like one down, 400 to go.

Bill Clinton's successful administration... Haha.. You are stupid AND obviously biased... a liberal notwithstanding your contradictory support of Ron Paul... "One" Fuck-up? If by one, you mean myriad, you're right:
(1) Al-Qaeda - wanted to kowtow to Pakistan so did nothing while their intelligence service armed the Taliban to empower their pakistani proxies in Kashmir.. failed to hold Paki's feet to the fire and failed to go after OBL when he had the chance to take him out and while the Taliban was growing in strength. Tanzania and Kenya bombings; USS Cole; lobbing a cruise missile ineffectively into Afghanistan; way to keep the eye on the ball and make adjustments..
(2)Kosovo - Nice job, still not independent.
(3) Somalia - remember Les Aspin - not much more competent than Rumsfeld it would seem - poor bastard died.. guess he couldn't handle it..
(4) Rwanda - 1994 Genocide
(5) Harriet Miers?? Remember Kimbah Wood - haha...remember Lani Guinier.. what about Vince Foster?
(6) Eritrea - Clinton hailed it as a new beacon for democracy in Africa.. now it's a safe-haven for jihadists
(7) Quote from Michael Scheur, head of the CIA's Osama Bin Laden unit, in House testimony regarding CIA rendition prisons: "The CIA’s Rendition Program began in late summer, 1995... I have read and been told that Mr. Clinton, Mr. Berger and Mr. Clarke have said, since 9/ 11, that they insisted that each receiving country treat the rendered person it received according to U.S. legal standards. To the best of my memory, that is a lie." Wait.. Michael Scheur.. no lover of Bush.. 1995? Wasn't Clinton the President? IF you're gonna slam renditions, don't be a hypocrite and go after the guy who started them.
(8) Commutation of Scooter Libby? How about Marc Rich.. nice .. fugitive from law... at least Libby was convicted before anyone had the balls to pardon him.
(9) Remember all those fishy campaign donations from the Chinese?? Ron Brown, Lippo Bank, Charlie Trie...

I guess Clinton didn't need Karl Rove..

Need more failures??

hmm.. i guess too busy getting it on to run the country properly..
some might say that's the source of your inability to write a proper political post, but i doubt it.. chicks don't dig stupidity.

What Clinton successes? You mean the ones that he got passed with Republican support, i.e. welfare reform and a balanced budget... those???

Let's see, what has a Democratic Congress done since?? Last time I checked.. BushCo brought 'em to their knees by passing a draft of an amendment to the FISA law drafted by BushCo... Niiiice... I guess he's not a lame duck... Albertoooooo .. Still in office last time I checked.. 1000 investigations and hearings notwithstanding.. way to use up that extra tax revenue that's pouring in from the Bush tax cuts...

Oh yeah, don't forget Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act.. Way to protect gay rights.

dont you love how you can list a variety of high crimes, misdemeanors and felonies of the current administration,

but mention our last great president and their looney switch goes into overdrive.

plus it's pure entertainment to watch them blame him for 9/11

fast eddie, its you, and your echo chamber predictability that inspire such easy-to-make categories as Oh You Republicans.

Worst President ever? You mean worse than Jimmy Carter? Double digit interest rates, unemployment, Iran going to cleric/democracy-haters? Well, the list goes on. Carter was so great he served one term. Today Jimmy kisses butt of dictators, America and Israel haters.

Maybe Bush isn't the worst. Maybe the LAist blogger is a tad biased. Nawww, couldn't be.

Hey Ton.. I'm always sad when I don't see a political post from you. Since you haven't mentioned any high crimes or felonies, let alone misdemeanors, clearly I need nothing but your lame-ass opinion to make my loony switch go into overdrive... and make my daaaayy.. my I'm smarter than Tony Pierce switch on the other hand is always on... Can I call you "Fish in a Barrel?" You make it too easy. I love pillorying the softness that is your politics.. Clinton the last Great President.. Haha.. 'nuff said... LAist readers... that's a gem.

Noticed you were a pussy cat when pretty ladies like Moxie expose and lay bare your ignorance and rote recital of whatever you read on DailyKos... haha... grow a spine..

When Bush Took Office, Gas Was $1.46...Just thought it was worth mentioning.

Oh you liberals... Haha.. or "Or you liberals masquerading as libertarians when you're really for more government and weirdly state's rights, which is a conservative framework" .. or "Oh you dumb liberals" .. oh that's redundant.

George Bush is a disgrace to the office of the predident. He and his coterie are liars, murderers and thieves. Reagan offered America safety and peace, two things which BushCo hates because it's BAD FOR BUSINESS.

-- Former Republican, waiting for the GOP to be come Grand again.

Personally, I'd love to think this was a triumph for the Forces of Good and Righteousness; but if history is any guide, I'd say that Karl is setting off on his "Rig The Election 2008 Tour", and, since Dubya isn't running for re-election, he's better off outside the official power structure, where he can encrypt his emails and burn-bag his memoranda without having to worry about violating Public Records laws.

The whole "Bush's Brain" thing is misleading, anyway - Karl's talent was never about policy advice for a sitting president - Karl's all about the spin, the propaganda, the media manipulation and the vote-rigging needed to win (or at least steal) the election.

Once George Dubya got into office, he was on his own as far as brainpower was concerned - with the entirely predictable results we've seen.

... and delete millions of emails, and hide the email servers, and continue to obstruct justice and hide his anti-american tracks

You tell em, Tony.

Well said, Tony. I love how people who disagree with you just attack Clinton instead of defending Bush. As if Clinton doing stupid shit were some sort of validation for this sham of an administration. Two wrongs don't make a right - but they make a right wing argument.

Heath, you took the words right out of my mouth.
