I usta live on Hartford Ave at 7th, in the mid-1990s, and I was there on that Turkey day when Dick Riordan showed up in person (lemme tell ya: when an angry punk-rock scotsman small publisher is confronted by a drunken irish mayor on a Sunday, when the allegedly convict-staffed latter entity, the result is one that even gary Leonard allows to be photographed!) to make the "Health" Department take down that "F" grade sign.

Oh, for you newbies on L.A.: Dick owns The Pantry. It was also the site of the flash-point of the DNC 2K (I moved back to NYC shortly after that fiasco, and even received a fair amount of settlement from the LAPD for having been shot there at Fig & Olympic.) THAT, is why I whine.

As for vegans eschewing meat-eaters for hiding the sausage: PLEASE! This shit was going on in ORANGE COUNTY in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Back when Sublime, Pestilence, Offspring, Mindrot, No Doubt (and John Pantelle Productions) and loads of other bands that yer parents did not know existed when Taft Avenue and Doctor Dream Records was in vogue, there was a whole world happening. And within that world were people situating what they would fuck, according to what others ate.
