TV Junkie: Tonight's Picks = Slim Pickins

Hump day ain't over, at least for TV - Wednesday is probably one of the worst-programmed days of the week this summer. Throw me a frickin bone here.
Your choices for prime time are mostly reality/game shows: 'Power of 10' (CBS), 'So You Think You Can Dance' (Fox), 'Last Comic Standing' (NBC), 'Don't Forget the Lyrics' (Fox), etc.
Or just commit yourself to 2 retro hours of 'My Music: The 70's Experience' (KOCE-PBS, 8:00pm) - hosted by Barry Williams (Greg Brady from 'The Brady Bunch'). A glorious mix of soft cock, pop, soul, and disco with performances from KC & the Sunshine Band, A Taste of Honey, and others desperate to make a living. Put on the bell-bottoms and score an 8-ball for a good time.
The only real bit of original programming for the night is FX's 'Rescue Me' at 10:00pm, if some of you are into that sort of thing, and some of you are. It's not just that I don't like Denis Leary, and I really don't, it's that I just don't like what any of the supporting actors are doing or the writing or the way that it's shot. Hold that, I thought Tatum O' Neil (of all people) was a revelation, and Charles Durning showed all those chumps what real acting was in previous seasons. I do feel guilty for sniping at the show, however, since it is the only thing that Wednesday night has going for it right now.
11:35pm The Tonight Show With Jay Leno NBC - Seth Rogan pushing his new flick, quite the media darling these days; animal handler Jules Sylvester.
12:35am The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson CBS - I gotta watch this because Michelle Pfeiffer is on and, well, it's just an ongoing fantasy, me bursting into a room shouting "Say hello to my little friend!" etc.

What about Top Chef?

Rescue Me is one of my favorite shows on TV. FX is one of the only networks that is actually still making compelling shows. The Shield, Rescue Me, Its Always Sunny, Damages, Nip/Tuck... all great shows.

I somehow feel "Soft cock" is pretty appropriate in that context.

I agree that Rescue me has gotten off track a bit. If they would just spend more time on maybe one or two events instead of jam-packing each episode like a daytime soap, I would be very happy. The plot lines just got silly and far fetched.
Sad to say, I no longer Tivo Rescue Me these days.

Thanks MilitantAngelino.
Ah yes, 'Top Chef', a gimmicky show that was interesting in its badly subtitled glory when it was only available on obscure local cable 12 years ago.
c and r are 2 rows apart timmay, that wasn't a slip-up unlike most of my other writing.

Not "Iron Chef," "Top Chef," it's like Survivor for cooks!!!!

oh yeah, you know, I did used to report on Top Chef back in the day if you look at my archived articles but I never received any feedback on my posts. I'll start doing it again - thanks Carrie
