Biking and Beer with Hot Knivez This Saturday

hot%20knivez.jpg

If you're not really the Guitar Hero type, here's another (drunker) option for your Saturday: the vegetarian-biking-cooking-podcasting team Hot Knivez will be leading their first biking tour of Los Angeles's best beer stores on August 11th, starting at around 10am:

we plan on traversing L.A. side streets to collect a wide array of bombers and six packs with the express purpose of throwing a tasting/swigging/gulping/retching party at the finish line. We’ll be starting at the Gold Line Metro Highland Park station and end at Echo park lake for a hot nuts & cold beer party. Maybe that's reason enough to be doing this. In between we ask only that everyone 1) make new friends 2) buy a beer at each stop 3) drink lots of water.

They'll be hitting up such diverse spots as the 7-11 in Highland Park, Cap'n Cork in Los Feliz, and Galco's Soda Pop Shop. Bike and beer specialists are encouraged to attend and lend their expertise. If you can't make the event, check out their website for great recipes: they have a strange-but-wonderful mix of vegan/vegetarian dishes and recipes that involve heavy use of alcohol, like these whiskey popsicles. That's right: whiskey popsicles. No word on whether or not they'll be distributing these at Saturday's event, but damn if these guys don't seem like they'd be fun to hang out with.

Check out below the jump for the flyer and RSVP information. We're not sure we know exactly what a "hot nut party" will entail, but we bet it tastes good. And salty!

Carrie - this looks awesome, if I was in town I would totally rally people to go! There is not much I like more than drinking and biking.

And uhm if the guy on the right would like a private interview, could you maybe arrange that for me?

This is going to be an excellent adventure, but come ready to ride as the route's going to cover at least 40 miles.

Hahahahaha! I know *exactly* what you're saying there, sister...they're very friendly, I bet you could email them and hook it up!

Isn't Evan George part of Hot Knives? He was part of LA Alternative and was all "I hate the man," then started working for Downtown News and writing light and happy stories about how the man can be cool.

Is this that same Hot Knives?

I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just wondering.

I love hot nuts. This event looks great. You already sparked my interest with two cute veg boys who plan and cook!

this MIGHT get me to get my bike fixed

now we just have to get you drinking tap water, tony, and we'll be all set!

;)

Oh and recycling. But that might be a tall order. Better stay with whiskey pops and broken bikes.

Comment #4 had to be written by Alex, and I'm guessing #5 was Evan.
