Classical Pick of the Week: Downtown Lunchtime Organ Concert

Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels - Los AngelesMaybe you've got a long lunch and you've been itching to see the inside of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Well, here's one opportunity this Wednesday at 12:45 p.m. The Cathedral's organist, Samuel Salvador Soria will be playing an organ recital. We're not sure what on the program yet, but he's a former prize-winner at the J.S. Bach International Competition at the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. If dude can play Bach like that, he's worth checking out.

One amazon reviewer of his album says this about hearing him live at the Cathedral: "The pipe organ at the new Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in downtown Los Angeles is an impressive and wonderful sight, and even more wonderful is the way it sounds. I've felt the air in the building vibrate when Sal Soria plays at full volume..."

Information gathered from The Clickable Chamber Music Newsletter from the South Bay.

On a side note: Dubbed as Southern California's premiere Baroque Orchestra, Musica Angelica has announced their 07/08 five-concert season, which begins on October 20. Their May 3rd and 4th concerts will be in collaboration with John Malkovich.
