Be My Baby: daughter testifies at Spector trial

nicolespector.jpgYesterday the defense team called Nicole Spector, Phil Spector's daughter, to the stand. Her testimony (all 2 minutes of it) was designed to show that the music producer is right-handed, which would seem to counter some of the prosecution's forensic evidence.

Nicole was composed and smiled warmly at the jury. But...

1. In recounting Phil Spector's dad-ishness -- he'd pick her up from high school, join her at her mom's house for dinner, then watch TV -- she said they would watch All In the Family together. Let me get this straight: Phil Spector is fond of a '70s TV show centered around a bullying, ignorant father.

2. The defense listed several things to prove Phil Spector's right-handedness. Did he eat with his right hand, were his guitars right handed. Yes, yes, Nicole said. "Have you ever seen him use his left hand, for instance, to play the piano?" the defense asked. Huh? People play piano with both hands. Then double-huh: "I’ve never seen him play the piano, so no," Nicole replied. A multi-instrumentalist record producer with a piano in his house who never played it? That doesn't sound like any musician we know. Nicole, you're cute, but you're not very convincing.

3. Daughter Nicole Spector is 24. Wife Rachelle just turned 27. Phil Spector? He's 67.

Both CourtTV and KTLA are streaming the trial live, so you don't have to leave your desk to catch Michael Bay testifying. And we'll be in the courtroom, too.
