LAst Night's Action: Black and Blue Crew Healing

Welcome back, Tak!Dodgers 5, Rockies 4 - Los Angeles must feel like they dodged a bullet after Thursday night -- not because of Colorado's attempted comeback, but because of all the pitching injuries. Brad Penny earned his 13th win, but was pulled out of the game in the seventh after an all-out sprint to earn a single. Turns out he only had a bad cramp. Takashi Saito returned after missing seven games with shoulder trouble, taking the mound in the 9th to earn his 26th save. It also looks like Derek Lowe may be able to make his next start despite a groin injury on Wednesday.

Chivas USA 2, Red Bulls 0 - The best soccer in Los Angeles continues to be played without David Beckham. The "other" team that resides in the Home Depot Center defeated New York thanks to a goal and an assist by Ante Razov. With 104 career goals, he sits just four shy of the MLS career record.

Elsewhere - For the fifth time in a row, USC's football team was picked to win the league at Pac 10 Media Day. They've delivered each of the past four years. Trojan coach Pete Carroll apparently had a few words with former player and current media personality Petros Papadakis over Matt Leinart's parenting skills. Of course, the real question in this town is about his acting skills ... It was no surprise that UCLA coach Karl Dorrell was pestered about Eric Scott, though his strong support for the recently arrested WR coach makes us wonder what the real story is ... It's a hard knock life for the Beckhams. Despite David's $50 million per year, they apparently can't afford parking in this city. Their security detail was caught crashing through a parking gate, followed by the Dynamic Duo in their Bentley.
