Need something to celebrate today?

Gentryguitar.jpgGuest Day Editor Carolyn Kellogg joins LAist with a few posts throughout the day. Read the introductory interview and check out the her litblog.

Happy 35th birthday to the guy who directed the scary as fuck original Grudge movies, Takashi Shimizu, and the funny as all get-out Maya Rudolph of Saturday Night Live.

Country musician Bobbie Gentry celebrates her birthday today, as do musicians Juliana Hatfield and Pete Yorn.

It's Yahoo Serious' birthday, too. Don't remember him? Let me rephrase that. Don't remember him.

If that's not enough to drive you to drink, you can also toast ice skater Peggy Fleming, Dick Van Dyke's brother Jerry, onetime TV king Norman Lear, and the slightly creepy but also hot Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

it's system administrator's day !

if you can read this , thank your sys admin !

I just had a flashback of a horrible awards show teaser that ran on (I think) Nickelodeon back in the day when "Young Einstein" was released. Mr. Serious popped on the screen and actually said, "Yahoo! I'm serious..."

Some things should remain suppressed in the subconscious. (Though Jonathan Rhys Meyers ain't one of them. Mmm.)

The man devised a way of harnessing nuclear energy to put bubbles in beer. He's an international hero!

He's a gift to non-proliferation second only to Bill and Ted!
