Another reason to love Johnny Depp

Good taste in architecture: rumors fly (here and here) that he's bought the penthouse of the gorgeous bluegreen Eastern Columbia Building in downtown.
The Eastern Columbia building is in the national register of historic places and is an LA Cultural-Historical landmark (#294, to be precise). It is coated in turquoise terra cotta from the ground level to the top of its 13th floor. The building will celebrate its 77th birthday on September 12.
Johnny Depp celebrated his 44th birthday on June 9. Although he started out in slasher films and bad TV, his acting skill, smart script choices, and yes, looks propelled him into a kind of alternasuperstardom. Sure, you might think of him as Captain Jack Sparrow, but he's also played Hunter S. Thompson, Edward Scissorhands, JM Barrie (author of Peter Pan), Willie Wonka, a narc and a dead man. He's got range. And now: taste.
