The industry redeems itself

I'm sorry baby, let's never fight again

I was angry and hurt. I said some things I didn't really mean. I used words like "hate" and "twits." I take it all back.

The production company that used my street and forced the towing of my car is going to reimburse me. Yesterday I contacted the city and they directed me to FilmLA (as did several LAist readers' comments -- thank you), who gave me the name and phone number for the contact person for the production. I called her but got voice mail, so I found her e-mail by Googling the number, and sent her an e-mail. She replied in less than an hour:

Thank you for your email - we have some money set aside for just this very thing, and we are happy to reimburse you... I want you to know that we all knocked on doors, set Security guards out 1 1/2 days before w/ cones to remind people to move there cars ... we waited until the last possible minute and we felt HORRIBLE because we never like to tow - it is our very last resort. Soooo, I'm so glad you emailed to let us know who you are.

I love this woman. She ended the e-mail "Again, glad you emailed, we really do feel badly." Now I feel a bit guilty for being so upset at them for towing my car, although I definitely did not see cones or security guards in the morning when I left for work -- I think I would have noticed that. But I'm not concerned about it anymore.

I am feeling much better about this ultimately insignificant but very frustrating little injustice in my life. The number for FilmLA is 213-977-8600, in case anyone needs it.

The best part is that now I can go see movies again with no bad feelings coming between me and the screen.
